High leverage is a specific mechanical claim rather than a marketing word, and it is worth explaining because it is the entire reason to buy this plier over the standard one.
In any plier, the force at the jaws is your hand force multiplied by the ratio of two lengths: the distance from the pivot to your hand, against the distance from the pivot to the jaws. Move the pivot closer to the jaws and that ratio rises — the same squeeze produces significantly more force at the tips. That is what a high leverage design does, and on a six inch plier it means grip comparable to a considerably larger tool from something that still fits in a pocket and still reaches into tight spaces.
For a long nose plier that combination is genuinely useful. Long nose jaws are slender and their weakness has always been grip: they reach beautifully and then let go of anything stubborn. More leverage at the tips means the tool holds what it reaches, which is the whole point.
The material is a step up too. This is chrome vanadium rather than the carbon steel of the standard range — chromium raising hardness and wear resistance so the serrations and cutting edge stay sharp, vanadium refining the grain and adding toughness so the slender jaws flex rather than snap. On a high leverage tool that matters more than usual, because the extra force is being applied through the same slim jaw section. The black finish resists rust, and the ergonomic TPR handle is a moulded thermoplastic rubber grip that stays comfortable under the higher squeeze the design invites.
The buyers are electricians and panel builders, electronics and instrument technicians, auto-electricians, machinery and equipment fitters, and hardware dealers supplying trades who use pliers all day.
One caution follows directly from the design. More leverage means it is easier to apply enough force to damage the tool or the work without realising it. Slender long nose jaws will still spring out of alignment if used as a lever or a wrench, and the higher mechanical advantage simply gets you there sooner. Keep combination pliers for anything that needs turning. Oil the pivot occasionally. Ask us on WhatsApp for a price, or for it with the matching diagonal cutter.
