These are proper workshop scissors rather than office ones, and three figures on the specification say so: 4mm thick stainless steel, blades hardened to HRC 54-56, and a stainless bolt and nut.

Thickness first. Four millimetres of blade is substantial for scissors, and it matters because scissors cut by two blades passing each other under sideways load. Thin blades spring apart under that load, and once the blades separate even slightly they stop cutting and start folding the material between them — which is the exact moment a pair of scissors becomes useless while looking perfectly fine. Thick blades stay together.

The hardness of HRC 54-56 is the range good cutting tools sit in. Hard enough to take and hold a genuinely keen edge through thousands of cuts, tough enough not to chip when the blades meet a staple, a seam or a hard spot. Soft scissors go dull quickly and then tear rather than cut.

The bolt and nut being stainless — and being a bolt and nut rather than a rivet — is the detail that decides how long scissors stay good. Scissor performance depends entirely on the tension at the pivot: too loose and the blades separate and fold the material, too tight and they bind. A bolt and nut can be adjusted back to correct as it wears, where a riveted pivot cannot be. Stainless means it does not seize with rust.

The whole blade being stainless matters for what these get used on: damp materials, food packaging, plastics, tape and adhesive, outdoor work. A carbon steel blade rusts and marks what it cuts.
