The advice at this size is different from everywhere else in the range, and it is worth stating plainly rather than selling around. On fasteners this large the screw is strong, the thread is usually seized, and the tool becomes the weak link. A hardened key twisted past its limit does not bend and recover, it distorts or snaps, and a Torx tip cannot be ground back into shape the way a worn hex key can. So the key is best treated as an access and running tool: it gets to the fastener, it turns it once it is free, and it costs very little. For breaking a seized T50 fixing loose, and for setting a torque figure afterwards, a Torx bit socket on a heavy drive is the tool that will actually do it.

Before any of that, clear the recess. A fixing of this size on plant that works outdoors will have a socket packed solid with rust and dirt, and a key that cannot bottom will destroy the lobes rather than turn the screw. Dig it out, check by eye, then engage.

One more thing worth saying because it saves a wasted journey. T50 is where our range ends. Some heavy vehicle and plant fixings use T55 and T60, and if that is what your machine takes, none of the keys on this page will fit and no combination of them will substitute.
