The tool is a bar bent at a right angle with a ring at the working end. That geometry gives you a short arm and a long arm, and each is used differently. Hold the long arm and the short one becomes a lever with real force behind it, which is what you want for breaking a fixing loose or setting it up tight. Hold the short arm and the long one becomes a crank you can spin, which runs a long fastener down or off far faster than any repeated spanner swing. Cracking loose and winding off are the two halves of most jobs at this size, and this single tool does both without changing tools in between.

The other advantage is where it will go. A socket needs a ratchet or a bar on top of it, and that assembly needs clear space above the fastener as well as swing around it. An L wrench is one piece with its handle already turned through ninety degrees, so it works where there is room beside the fastener but very little above it. That situation is common on vehicles, machinery frames and anywhere a fixing sits under a panel or between components.

The ring end surrounds the fastener and grips all six faces, so it will not slip off under the force the long arm can generate. That matters, because the leverage available here is more than most people expect from a tool this simple.

It is forged from chrome vanadium, hardened and tempered, and finished in satin matt chrome for corrosion protection.
