Ten millimetre heads belong to M6 bolts, and M6 is what manufacturers use whenever something needs holding on without being structural — covers, guards, shields, brackets, clips, trim, heat shields, sensor mounts, earth points, battery clamps and air box fixings. On a modern vehicle there are more 10mm fasteners than any other size by a wide margin, and they come in runs: a cover with eight of them, a shield with six.

Tooth count sets the swing arc — the handle travel needed before the pawl catches and the fastener turns — and 72 teeth gives five degrees against fifteen for a coarse 24-tooth ratchet.
