Up to 22mm the set steps in ones and twos and feels complete. After that it goes 22, 24, 27, 30, 32, and everything in between is simply absent. Twenty five, twenty six and twenty eight are all missing. On general work that is rarely a problem. On imported machinery and plant it becomes one, because large fasteners are exactly where different manufacturing standards diverge most, and the sizes a European machine uses are not always the sizes a Japanese or American one does.

So a workshop that services imported equipment tends to discover the top of its spanner set is thinner than it looked. The individual sizes exist for that, and the sensible approach is to add them as your own work reveals which you actually need, rather than buying every size in advance.

At this size it is also worth thinking about the ring end before you order. A ring is a closed loop of steel around the nut, and at 25mm that loop has real thickness and a real outside diameter. If the fastener sits down inside a recess, a counterbore or a tight pocket between castings, the ring may simply not fit into the space even though the size is correct. The open jaw is thinner across its section and will often go where the ring will not. That is a good reason to check the access before assuming the ring end is available to you on a particular job.
