The ball on the long arm lets the key enter a socket head at roughly twenty-five to thirty degrees off axis, so a screw you cannot get in front of can still be turned. Combine that with the long arm's reach and you can get to a recessed fastener that sits behind an obstruction, which is a situation that comes up constantly on machinery, gearboxes and assembled equipment where taking the obstruction off is the alternative.

The limitation compounds with the length, which is why it needs stating plainly.
