1 / 6Pro Hand Saw (20", 65Mn)

The Pro version of the 20" hand saw differs from the standard one in a way worth understanding properly, because it is not simply the better saw.
Its teeth are ground on three sides rather than two. That third ground face puts an extra cutting edge on each tooth, and the result is a saw that cuts noticeably faster and clears its chips more freely — it slices on both the push and the pull rather than mostly on the push. On a day of cutting studs and boards to length, that difference is real and you feel it in your shoulder by the afternoon.
The teeth are hardened past HRC 53. Read alongside the standard saw at HRC 55, that is slightly softer, and it is the honest trade-off: a marginally softer tooth is tougher, less likely to lose its point on a nail or a hard knot, but it will dull sooner than the harder one. So the choice between the two is not price against quality. It is speed and toughness against edge life. If you want the fastest cut and you work on site where saws meet nails, take the Pro. If you want the edge to last longest in clean timber, take the standard.
Either way the teeth are hardened well past the point where a file will bite, so both are replace-when-blunt saws rather than ones you sharpen.
The blade is heat-treated 65Mn manganese spring steel, which flexes through a cut and returns dead straight rather than taking a permanent bend. A saw plate that has taken a set binds in its own kerf and wanders off the line, which is the most common reason a cheap saw becomes useless long before its teeth are worn.
The handle is soft TPR — grip that survives sweat and oil, and enough cushioning to matter over a long cut.
This is a saw for carpenters and joiners cutting all day, for formwork and site carpentry, and for shopfitters. If you only cut occasionally, the standard 20" is the more sensible buy and will hold its edge longer sitting in a toolbox between jobs.
We stock both, along with the 14" back saw for fine, controlled cuts and the mitre box set for angles. Message us on WhatsApp for prices and we will deliver island-wide.
